A few months ago I was lucky enough to exhibit at a wedding fair at Alton House Hotel, and as I packed away my flowers at the end of the day, I was reflected on how much I had enjoyed the day.

As a local wedding florist in Alton, Hampshire, I spend time creating beautiful arrangements behind the scenes, but wedding fairs give me a chance to meet the people at the heart of it all - the couples planning their special day.

There is something lovely about chatting face-to-face with newly engaged couples. So many arrive with pinterest boards full of ideas, screenshots on their phones, or simply a vague idea of the style they are hoping to create. Being able to talk through those ideas in person and help bring them to life is one of my favourite parts of the job.

Wedding flowers can feel overwhelming when you first start planning. How many centrepieces do you need? Which flowers are in season? What works best for your venue? These are all questions that are much easier to answer over a friendly conversation that through endless online searches.

At Alton House Hotel, I had the opportunity to showcase some of my recent wedding work and meet lots of lovely couples from across Hampshire and Surrey. It was wonderful to see people stopping to look at the flowers, asking questions, and beginning to imagine how their own wedding could look.

Wedding fairs are also a great reminder of how many talented suppliers we have here in Hampshire. From photographers to make-up artists, it is lovely to spend time with other local businesses who are just as passionate about weddings as I am.

For me, exhibiting at wedding fairs is not just about promoting my business, It is about building relationships. When you choose a florist for your wedding, you are inviting someone to be part of one of the most important days of your life. I want couples to feel comfortable, confident and excited about working together long before their wedding day arrives.

If you visited my stand at Alton House Hotel, thank you for stopping by and having a chat. It was lovely to meet you and hear all about your plans.
