Creating wedding flowers is always special, but there is something particularly lovely about seeing a bridal bouquet come together knowing it will be carried down the aisle just a few hours later.

For this beautiful wedding at Audleys Wood Hotel in Basingstoke, Hampshire, I had the pleasure of creating the bridal bouquet and coordinating bridesmaid bouquets, with a romantic palette of soft lilac, ivory, cream and fresh green foliage. For more information about bridal bouquet please see my previous blog here.

The finished flowers felt elegant and romantic while still having the natural, garden-inspired style that I love to create at Extra Gorgeous Blooms.

A Romantic Bridal Bouquet for an Audleys Wood Hotel Wedding

Bridal Bouquet

The bridal bouquet was designed to feel abundant, soft and naturally gathered rather that overly structured.

Beautiful creamy ivory roses formed the heart of the bouquet, surrounded by delicate lilac-toned flowers, textural details and plenty of fresh greenery.

I used a mixture of flower shapes and textures to give the bouquet depth and movement. The lager roses created a luxurious focal point, while the softer, more delicate flowers brought a light, romantic quality to the design.

Fine stems of of lilac statice added beautiful texture and tiny touches of colour throughout the bouquet, while airy white astrantia and flowing foliage helped create the relaxed, garden-inspired shape.

Rather than creating a perfectly round bouquet, I allowed some of the foliage and flowers to naturally trail and extend beyond the main arrangement. This gave the bouquet a mucg softer silhouette and created movement when it was carried.

The stems were finished with flowing ivory ribbon for an elegant final detail.

The colour palette for this Audleys Wood Hotel wedding was particularly beautiful.

Using ivory and bream as the foundation meant the flowers still had that timeless bridal feel, while the touches of lilac introduced colour without overpowering the design.

Fresh green foliage brought everything together and gave the bouquets their natural, romantic character.

It is a lovely colour combination for couples looking for romantic Hampshire wedding flowers that feel classic but not overly traditional.

Creating Bridesmaid Bouquets

Alongside the bridal bouquet, I created coordinating bridesmaid bouquets using the same beautiful flower palette.

When designing bridesmaid flowers, I love them to clearly belong with the bridal bouquet without simply creating smaller identical copies.

Using flowers and foliage from the same palette creates consistency throughout the wedding while allowing the bridal bouquet to remain the main focal point.

The bridesmaid bouquets featured the same romantic combination of the soft lilacs, creamy whites, delicate textures and fresh greenery, creating a beautiful cohesive look when the bridal party were together.

This is something I always consider when designing bespoke wedding flowers - how each individual arrangement will look on its own, but also how all of the flowers will work together throughout the wedding photographs.

Audleys Wood Hotel near Basingstoke, Hampshire is a beautiful setting for a Hampshire wedding and its historic character and surrounding greenery work wonderfully with romantic, garden-inspired florals.

For a venue with so much character, flowers do not necessarily need to be overly formal.

Loose bouquets filled with roses, delicate seasonal flowers, texture and greenery complement the surroundings beautifully while still bringing plenty of luxury to the overall wedding look.

Whether you are planning soft lilac wedding flowers like these, timeless white and green florals, colourful seasonal flowers or something completely different, I design every wedding individually around the couple, their venue and the atmosphere they would like to create.

Choosing Your Bridal Bouquet

Lilac & Cream Bridal Bouquet

Your bridal bouquet is one of the most personal floral pieces from your wedding day.

When designing a bespoke bridal bouquet, I consider much more that simply the flowers you like. Your dress, colour palette, wedding venue, season and overall style of your day can all influence the finished design.

Some couples know exactly what they want. Others simply have a collection of inspiration photographers and a general idea of how they would like their wedding to feel.

Both are absolutely fine.

My job as your wedding florist is to take those ideas and turn them into flowers that feel right for your wedding.
